‘Hike for Life’: Man hiking Pacific Crest Trail makes stop in C.O. to spread life-saving message about kidney donations

Matthew Draxton will share his report on NewsChannel 21 at Five

SISTERS, Ore (KTVZ). -- A man is taking on the challenge of hiking 2,600 miles through three states, and the border of Mexico and Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail. Theron Hayes began his journey on April 27, 2024 starting at Mexican border and is currently in Sisters. He's hiking to inspire others to donate a kidney and show that the procedure is safe and won't limiting life.

Matthew Draxton is speaking to Theron Hayes about his journey thus far, what inspired him to take on the challenge, what his mission is, and how he hopes to spread awareness about the safety of donating a kidney.

He'll also be speaking with Laura Boehm, a registered dietitian and the facility administrator for Fresenius Kidney Care, about kidney disease, how donating a kidney to another can help save a life, and generally the impact donations have on doctors and those suffering with the disease.

His report will be on NewsChannel 21 at Five.
