Developing Story: OSU-Cascades’ Little Kits to shut down amid financial challenges

Editor's Note: KTVZ News has reached out to the university concerning this story and are waiting for a response.

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Little Kits, managed by the OSU Family Resource Center, will close on July 2nd. According to the school, the closure is due to ongoing financial challenges, including rising operating costs and limited public funding.

According to the university's website, the decision by OSU-Cascades to close Little Kits reflects a national trend, as child care remains a challenging model to sustain and subsidize financially across Oregon and the country.

The university is currently working to secure an independent child care provider. This new provider would lease the Little Kits building and operate a licensed child care program.

Little Kits staff have been informed of the impending closure, which according to a current employee, impacts 23 staff, including students.
