Caldera softball reaches first state championship game in program history; Summit baseball falls

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- Caldera punched its ticket to the first state championship game in program history with a thrilling 7-5 comeback victory over Crater in the 5A semifinals. The top-seeded Wolfpack fell behind 5-1 after two innings as the Comets' offense came out swinging, but Caldera's powerful lineup responded immediately. RBI hits from Elle Morton, Grace Wilson, and Brooke Chapin helped erase the deficit, while Avery Keldson's squeeze bunt sparked the rally. After tying the game in the third inning, the Wolfpack took control in the fourth when freshman Grace Wilson delivered a two-run hit down the left-field line to give Caldera its first lead. Chapin settled in the circle and shut the door the rest of the way, helping the Wolfpack complete the comeback and advance to Saturday's state championship game against Wilsonville.
