WARM SPRINGS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Desmond Ray Florez, 34, of Warm Springs, Ore., was sentenced to federal prison yesterday for sexually abusing two minors at a sleepover.

Florez received a sentence of 50 months in federal prison and 10 years of supervised release, as announced by U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford.

According to court documents, Florez sexually abused two minors on Apr. 13, 2025. This occurred during a sleepover at Florez's residence on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation.

Investigators with the Warm Springs Police Department learned that Florez had also previously sexually abused one of the minor victims four years prior.

A federal grand jury in Portland returned a two-count indictment charging Florez with sexual abuse of a minor and sexual abusive contact on Jul. 1, 2025. Florez pleaded guilty to both counts on Feb. 19, 2026.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Warm Springs Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Arin Heinz prosecuted the case.

This case was brought in collaboration with Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Led by the U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the Department of Justice's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources. The initiative works to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children and to identify and rescue victims. More information is available at www.justice.gov/psc.
