Man dies after being hit by vehicle on U.S. Highway 97 in Madras

MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- An adult male died Friday night after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 97 in Madras. The driver involved was taken into custody following the crash, which occurred at approximately 10:11 p.m. in the 600 block of Southwest 4th Street.

The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities have withheld the identity of the deceased man pending notification of his next of kin. The driver's identity has also been withheld pending arraignment.

The investigation into the crash remains active and no additional information is available for release at this time.
