Police respond to attempted burglary at Brasada Ranch

MGN Online

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Two individuals attempted to steal alcoholic beverages from the Ranchhouse at Brasada Ranch early Wednesday morning before running away when confronted by an employee.

Deputies from the Crook County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Prineville Police Department responded to the reported burglary in progress around 12:44 a.m. A Bend Police Department K9 unit was requested to track the suspects, but the search was unsuccessful. Authorities confirmed there is no threat to the public.

Law enforcement officials also addressed online rumors that circulated after the response, clarifying that the incident was not an armed robbery despite social media posts referencing “scanner chatter.”

Officials urged community members to exercise caution when reading or sharing unverified claims on social media platforms. Authorities emphasized waiting for factual information from trusted sources, noting that knee-jerk reactions can cause unnecessary panic.
