BURNS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A 71-year-old Burns woman died Saturday afternoon after her UTV was struck by a car on Highway 78 in Harney County, according to the Oregon State Police.

Rae Jean Marie Neumann was driving a UTV southbound along the shoulder near milepost 36 around 4:00 p.m. when she attempted to cross the highway to enter a driveway, police said.

Timothy John Dudzik, 86, of Carefree, Ariz., was driving a silver Mercedes E350 southbound when the collision occurred. Investigators said Dudzik was unable to avoid the UTV and struck it on the driver's side before coming to a stop on the northbound shoulder.

Neumann was thrown from the UTV and was pronounced dead at the scene. Dudzik was reportedly not injured in the crash.

The Oregon State Police was assisted at the scene by the Harney County Sheriff's Office, the Burns Police Department and Harney District Hospital Emergency Medical Services.
