Prineville man Mark McKinnon charged with five new counts of sexual abuse

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Mark McKinnon, a 49-year-old resident of Prineville, Ore., was arraigned today after being arrested on five additional counts of first-degree sexual abuse involving a child victim. McKinnon is currently held without bail at the Crook County Jail.

The latest charges stem from an ongoing investigation by the Crook County Sheriff's Office. McKinnon was previously arrested on June 18, 2026, following a Crook County grand jury indictment on charges including first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration, eight counts of first-degree sexual abuse, attempted second-degree rape and second-degree invasion of personal privacy.

During the initial investigation, law enforcement officials learned of potential additional victims. Investigators subsequently reopened an inquiry into allegations of sexual abuse involving a separate child victim.

Following that inquiry, deputies arrested McKinnon on Sept. 5, 2026, on the five new first-degree sexual abuse counts. He remains held without bail at the Crook County Jail.

Law enforcement officials determined that additional minor girls could also be victims. The Crook County Sheriff's Office asks anyone with relevant information to contact non-emergency dispatch at 541-447-6398. Under the legal system, defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
