Redmond Municipal Airport director steps down after 11 years

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The longtime director of Redmond Municipal Airport has resigned after 11 years in the position, and the city has named an interim replacement.

Zach Bass stepped down as airport director, with a Redmond city spokesperson saying Bass has moved on to the next step in his career.

Jason Neff, the deputy Redmond city manager, has stepped into the role as interim airport director while the city determines its next steps.

Neff will continue serving as deputy city manager while overseeing the airport. He said he will rely on the airport and city teams to keep operations moving forward.

“We’ve got very capable staff. They know the ins and outs of everything they do,” Neff said. “So I have full confidence in them to keep business moving forward, meet our timelines and commitments, and I’m just here to support them and keep things moving forward in the near-term.”

Neff has worked for the City of Redmond for 20 years and has directly overseen the airport director’s role since 2022.

He also previously served as a budget advisor during the airport’s last major expansion in 2007.

The city is not immediately seeking a permanent replacement for Bass.

Neff is expected to remain in the interim position for about six months, and potentially through the completion of the airport expansion project, which is expected to wrap up in November 2027.
