WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is brushing off the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry. Biden says the way he sees it, they opened the probe against him because they want to shut down the federal government. The president says he is instead “focused on the things the American people want me focused on.” Biden’s remarks at a Democratic fundraiser Wednesday in Virginia were his first since Speaker Kevin McCarthy launched the impeachment inquiry. McCarthy has won over reluctant Republicans who were wary of the probe. But the Republican House leader is struggling to also shore up votes to fund the government and prevent federal shutdown.
