Audit of $19,000 lectern purchase for Arkansas governor almost done

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Auditors are nearly done looking into a $19,000 lectern purchased for Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders that prompted scrutiny and national attention last year. Legislative Auditor Roger Norman told Arkansas lawmakers that he expected his office to complete its report on the lectern’s purchase by the end of March. Norman said his office had interviewed 20 people and sought documents related to the lectern. Lawmakers ordered the audit in October over the lectern, which was initially purchased using a state credit card. The Republican Party of Arkansas later reimbursed the state for it. Sanders’ office has called the use of a state credit card for it an accounting error.
