A spokesperson for the University of California, Santa Cruz, says many people have been arrested at a pro-Palestinian demonstration that has been blocking the main campus entrance for days. Police in riot gear surrounded protesters Friday morning to remove an encampment and barricades. TV news station video shows pushing and shoving between the crowd and officers detaining some people. University leaders say the group was told repeatedly to remove the encampment and stop blocking access. The confrontation came a day after arrests at a pro-Palestinian encampment at a Detroit campus and a student walkout during commencement at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
