Another sign of the season: Road to the summit of Bend’s Pilot Butte closes to cars on Sunday night
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Oregon Parks and Recreation Department said Thursday it will close the Pilot Butte summit road to motorized vehicles for the season at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The road to the top of the northeast Bend landmark closes to motorized vehicles every year in November.
“With the return of winter weather, we will close the gate for the season,” says Park Manager Joe Wanamaker. “The road remains open to pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles year-round, but please use caution, as conditions can quickly become slick.”
The road will re-\open to motorized vehicles in mid-April 2025.
