After concerns expressed about Portland-area contractor's issues

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- PacificSource Community Solutions, the Medicaid division of PacificSource Health Plans, said Tuesday it has contracted with the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council to provide non-emergency medical transportation brokerage services to its Coordinated Care Organization members based in Central Oregon through March.

Services will be provided through COIC’s Cascades East Ride Center, to arrange rides to medical appointments for eligible Medicaid (Oregon Health Plan) clients.

The service area covered for the scheduling of medical transportation rides includes the following counties: Crook, Deschutes, Jefferson, and four communities in Northern Klamath County; Gilchrist, Crescent, Chemult and Crescent Lake, in addition to serving the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.

COIC said it "serves the local governments of Central Oregon, providing regional collaboration, efficiencies and service delivery for a strong local economy and quality of life."

PacificSource Community Solutions has contracted with LogistiCare to provide NEMT services in Central Oregon beginning April 1, 2020.

All 16 transportation providers in Central Oregon had recently urged PacificSource not to choose GridWorks, the Portland-area’s contractor, after several problems emerged, including patients not getting picked up in time, or at all, for appointments, and providers not being paid by the company. KPTV in Portland recently reported GridWorks would not have its Ride to Care contract renewed next year due to those issues.
