Trump’s beef import plan raises questions for local Central Oregon ranchers and suppliers

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- President Donald Trump plans to temporarily allow up to 300,000 additional metric tons of imported ground beef into the U.S. at a lower tariff rate, saying it could help reduce prices for consumers.

National cattle groups warn the plan could hurt American ranchers. KTVZ's Claire Elmer is reaching out to Central Oregon ranchers and meat companies about how the proposal could affect their business and local beef prices.
