Oregon reports 29 more COVID-19 related deaths, 3 in C. Oregon; 397 cases, 291 hospitalizations

(Update: Details of newly reported deaths)

PORTLAND, Ore.  (KTVZ) — There are 29 newly reported COVID-19 related deaths in Oregon, three of them in Central Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 6,772, the Oregon Health Authority reported Tuesday.

One of the newly reported deaths was from Crook County and two from Deschutes County

OHA reported 397 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, bringing the state total to 698,127.

COVID-19 hospitalizations

The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 291, which is 13 fewer than Monday. There are 50 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) beds, which is two fewer than Monday.

There are 83 available adult ICU beds out of 655 total (13% availability) and 416 available adult non-ICU beds out of 4,287 (10% availability).

Statewide regions are as follows:

Region 1: Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Multnomah, Tillamook and Washington counties

Region 2: Benton, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties

Region 3: Coos, Curry, Douglas and Lane counties

Region 5: Jackson and Josephine counties

Region 6: Hood River, Gilliam, Sherman and Wasco counties

Region 7: Crook, Deschutes, Grant, Harney, Jefferson, Klamath, Lake and Wheeler counties

Region 9: Baker, Malheur, Morrow, Umatilla, Union and Wallowa counties

St. Charles Bend reported 23 COVID-19-positive patients as of early Tuesday, none in the ICU. Eleven of the 23 COVID patients were not fully vaccinated, the hospital reported.

The total number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between report times. The numbers do not reflect admissions per day, nor the length of hospital stay. Staffing limitations are not captured in this data and may further limit bed capacity.

For the March refresh, the Health Care Workforce dashboard has been updated with data up to Feb. 27. The overall vaccination rate is 85%.

Vaccinations in Oregon

OHA reported Tuesday that 3,216 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry Monday. Of that total, 301 were initial doses, 344 were second doses and 953 were third doses and booster doses. The remaining 1,479 were administered on previous days but were entered into the vaccine registry Monday.

The seven-day running average is now 3,075 doses per day.

Oregon has now administered 4,160,392 doses of Pfizer Comirnaty, 238,068 doses of Pfizer pediatric, 2,722,920 doses of Moderna and 269,103 doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines.

As of Tuesday, 3,163,948 people have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 2,871,092 people have completed a COVID-19 vaccine series.

Note: The March 7th daily news release listed the seven-day running average at 582 doses per day. The seven-day running average should have been 3,167.

Oregon’s 6,744th COVID-19-related death is a 61-year-old woman from Multnomah County who tested positive Jan. 18 and died Jan. 17 at her residence. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.

Oregon’s 6,745th COVID-19-related death is a 63-year-old woman from Deschutes County who tested positive Dec. 29, 2020, and died Jan. 17 at St. Charles Bend. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.

Oregon’s 6,746th COVID-19-related death is an 83-year-old man from Multnomah County who tested positive Jan. 17 and died Feb. 8 at his residence. He had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,747th COVID-19-related death is an 86-year-old woman from Clackamas County who tested positive Jan. 10 and died Jan. 21 at her residence. She had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,748th COVID-19-related death is a 78-year-old woman from Multnomah County who tested positive Jan. 6 and died Jan. 21 at Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Medical Center. She had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,749th COVID-19-related death is a 75-year-old woman from Deschutes County who tested positive Jan. 14 and died Jan. 21 at St. Charles Bend. She had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,750th COVID-19-related death is a 66-year-old man from Multnomah County who tested positive Jan. 14 and died Jan. 21 at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center. He had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,751st COVID-19-related death is a 71-year-old woman from Multnomah County who tested positive Jan. 11 and died Jan. 26 at her residence. She had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,752nd COVID-19-related death is a 69-year-old woman from Coos County who tested positive Jan. 20 and died Jan. 22 at Bay Area Hospital. She had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,753rd COVID-19-related death is a 92-year-old woman from Washington County who tested positive Jan. 20 and died Jan. 22 at her residence. She had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,754th COVID-19-related death is an 84-year-old man from Wasco County who tested positive Jan. 15 and died Jan. 22 at St. Charles Bend. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.

Oregon’s 6,755th COVID-19-related death is an 82-year-old man from Washington County who tested positive Nov. 28, 2021, and died Jan. 22 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. He had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,756th COVID-19-related death is a 72-year-old man from Washington County who tested positive Jan. 11 and died Jan. 22 at his residence. He had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,763rd COVID-19-related death is a 55-year-old man from Washington County who tested positive Feb. 21 and died March 4 at OHSU Hillsboro Medical Center. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.

Oregon’s 6,764th COVID-19-related death is a 59-year-old man from Umatilla County who tested positive Feb. 8 and died Feb. 28 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Wash. He had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,765th COVID-19-related death is a 62-year-old woman from Umatilla County who tested positive Feb. 4 and died March 4 at Good Shepherd Medical Center. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.

Oregon’s 6,771st COVID-19-related death is a 44-year-old woman from Marion County who tested positive Jan. 31 and died March 4 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 6,772nd COVID-19-related death is a 69-year-old man from Lincoln County who tested positive Feb. 17 and died March 5 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
