Husband of La Pine day care operator arrested on abuse charge
Detectives concerned there may be other victims, ask for contact by parents
La PINE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A three-week investigation has led to the arrest of a La Pine man, accused of abusing a young girl at a day care operated by his wife, Deschutes County sheriff's deputies said Wednesday.
The sheriff's office received a report on April 21 of a sex crime involving a girl under the age of 14 attending Auntie J's Little Feet Child Care, a day care run out of a home on Wyatt Drive, Detective Sgt. Jayson Janes said.
Detectives began an investigation into the allegations against Roger Holloman, 46, the husband of the day care owner, the sergeant said. The state Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division also was notified and assisted with a safety plan.
During the investigation, detectives developed probable cause to arrest Holloman on Tuesday on one count of first-degree sex abuse, Janes said.
Holloman was booked into the county jail in Bend late Tuesday night and released early Wednesday afternoon, after initial arraignment and posting 10 percent of his $50,000 bail, jail officers said.
Court records showed Holloman is scheduled for arraignment on a formal indictment on July 16; they also show no previous criminal allegations in Oregon involving Holloman.
"Detectives believe there could be other victims in the community," Janes said in a news release.
Any parent who has not already spoken to detectives and is concerned about their child having unsupervised or inappropriate contact with Holloman is asked to contact Detective Josh Barker and 541-617-3331.
The sheriff's office thanked the Bend Police Department and the DHS Child Welfare Division for their assistance during the investigation.
