Raid of home turns up drugs, cash and loaded, stolen handgun

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – An alleged heroin and methamphetamine dealer was stopped and arrested Wednesday evening after he left his southwest Redmond home and got in the driver’s seat of his parked vehicle, drug agents said.

Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team detectives, assisted by Redmond police, made the arrest around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 2700 block of Southwest Metolius Avenue, Lt. Ken Mannix said Thursday in a news release.

That followed an investigation that identified the man as trafficking in commercial quantities of heroin and meth throughout Deschutes County, Mannix said. The man also had an outstanding arrest warrant for parole violation he added.

The man was taken into custody without incident. Mannix said he had a large sum of cash, and a search of the vehicle turned up about a quarter-ounce of meth hidden inside.

Detectives also executed a search warrant at the home and found about five ounces of meth, a commercial quantity of heroin, about 3 ½ ounces of butane honey oil, a loaded handgun, packaging material and other evidence of drug sales, manufacturing and delivery, the lieutenant said.

The man now faces, along with the parole violation, charges of felon in possession of a firearm and drug possession, manufacturing and delivery within 1,000 feet of a school.

The handgun was found to have been stolen from another man's vehicle and will be returned to its owner, Mannix said.
