TERREBONNE, Ore. (KTVZ) – A Deschutes County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a Highway 97 driver north of Terrebonne on Friday who was clocked at 116 mph.

The sheriff’s office posted a note to Facebook with a photo of the recorded speed on Friday, saying they “would like to remind the public of the dangers of traveling at excessive speeds.”

Another deputy, meanwhile, stopped a speeder on Highway 97 just south of Redmond Friday afternoon, heading south at 101 mph. Deputies said that driver was arrested for DUII, reckless driving and methamphetamine possession.

The social media post came a few weeks after Bend Police posted to Facebook that the driver of an SUV was stopped after hitting 106 mph on the Bend Parkway's southbound lanes near the Colorado Avenue exit.

"Speed kills. Please slow down," the posting said.
