Special Report: Shortage of substitute teachers challenges schools on the High Desert

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The High Desert Education Service District is in need of more substitute teachers.

"Our classrooms have increased, the number of teachers that we serve have increased, the number of assistants that we’re serving in our 10 surrounding school districts have also increased, so therefore we need more substitute support for those educators," High Desert ESD Recruitment Retention and Substitute Specialist Ann Marie Anderson told us.
