City of Bend still cleaning up after winter storms

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- You might be seeing an increase in the number of of street sweepers on Bend streets this week. The are just one way city crews are undertaking the cleanup from our most recent winter storms.

Storm drain cleanups and basin checkups are also part of city maintenance. Fortunately, crews say this storm was not too out of the ordinary.

City of Bend Director of Transportation David Abbas said, "They're out there, trying to get focused on the arterials. Main roads initially get that sanding rock cleaned out of turn lanes, turn pockets, bike lanes and get that cleaned up for the traveling public."

The most recent rainstorm we had also helped lighten the load on crews, as snow was able to melt slowly and efficiently without any seriously flooding.

Maintenance crews did work longer hours to ensure quick cleanup. They say it'll be business as usual until Mother Nature steps in once again.
