SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) — Travelers interested in accessing Oregon Highway 242, the Old McKenzie Highway, following its closure due to a nearby wildfire will be able to do so beginning Friday at 8 a.m. -- but only partially.

Access will be allowed only from the gate west of Sisters to the summit at about Dee Wright Observatory.

No access will be allowed on the western portion of the highway until additional firefighting and danger tree removal has been completed.

ODOT had closed the entire highway as wildfire forced the closure of Oregon Highway 126.
