Jefferson County Fire and EMS

MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) – A fire early Friday morning caused about $5,000 damage to a Madras manufactured home but no injuries, according to Jefferson County Fire & EMS, whose crews quickly put out the blaze.

The fire was reported around 1:20 a.m. at a home in the Green Spot Mobile Home Park on Highway 97, Captain Kirk Hagman said.

All occupants were out of the house before firefighters arrived. Hagman said it did not have a working smoke detector.

Crews confined the fire to the living room, where it began, and stayed on scene to conduct overhaul, Hagman said.

The American Red Cross was contacted, in case assistance was needed, but the resident will be staying with family, he said. While the residents were displaced, Hagman said they should be able to return after some minor repairs and cleaning.

Madras police and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies assisted at the scene.
