MT. BACHELOR, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Mt. Bachelor will wrap up one of its shortest seasons on record this Sunday, April 19th, following a warm, dry winter that brought historically low snowfall across Oregon.

Thanks to a late-season storm, as of 10:00 a.m, around 17 inches of fresh snow has fallen at the ski resort in the last 24 hours, giving closing weekend a boost.

Resort President and General Manager John Merriman called it a challenging year, but praised staff and guests for staying positive amid thin snowpack and early closures.

The mountain will coincide its final day with the return of RendezVan, a multi-day festival of spring skiing, live music, and van-life vibes running April 16th-19th.

KTVZ's Claire Elmer is heading to the slopes today for coverage of the closing festivities and skier reactions. Tune in for her full report Thursday on KTVZ News at 4:00 p.m. on FOX and 5:00 p.m. on NBC.
