CET holds Transit to Trails Free Ride Day and Bike & Brunch event to acquaint mountain bikers with route

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Cascades East Transit partnered with Bend Bikes and Discover Your Forest on Friday for a Transit to Trails Free Ride Day, promoting a route that's available all summer.

Representatives from each organization were on hand, helping load bikes onto CET's new 20-bike trailer and offering information to mountain bikers.

Included in the event was Bike & Brunch, offering coffee, breakfast pastries and trail food. They offered information about bike maps and and answering questions for transit riders.

Fares are $5 one-way and $9 round-trip, CET said, urging participants to "explore great mountain biking trails or head up to Mt. Bachelor for food and fun activities."

Matthew Draxton is speaking to Cascades East Transit about the goals of the event and about the Transit to Trails route. He's also speaking to a board member of Bend Bikes, a volunteer nonprofit, about their involvement and their message.

Matthew also spoke with a rider about the route and what he's looking forward to most.
