Prineville housing development adds new builder, expands inventory

KTVZ

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A large Prineville housing development in progress is adding another builder to the mix, with city documents showing Pahlisch Homes is seeking to assign a portion of its purchase agreement for city-owned land to Lennar Northwest.

The property is tied to the planned Ochoco Pointe expansion, involving land that city records describe as a total of roughly 396 acres. The original agreement contemplated the sale of land in phases and referenced an estimated 1,000 buildable lots across two development areas.

Amidst the housing shortage in Central Oregon, the development continues to add inventory in Prineville. But more development comes with the risk of growing pains, raising questions: what type of homes could be built, what price points, and how the city is preparing for added pressure on roads, schools, and utilities?

KTVZ’s Claire Elmer is reaching out to city officials and the developers to learn what this means for Prineville’s future growth. Tune in to KTVZ News at 4:00p.m. on FOX to learn more.
