‘It’s been fantastic!’: 27th annual Sisters Folk Festival brings music and more to community, wraps up three-day event

SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) --  The three-day Sisters Folk Festival wrapped up Sunday, back for its 27th year around the community.

The music was spread out across seven different venues all around town, including small-town cafes and The Belfry.

The event keeps people returning year after year.

"It's been fantastic,! Bend resident Deb Quinlan said Sunday. "It's a real sense of community. I've lived in the Bend area for years and years, and it's become a tradition for me."

SFF Communication Manager Erin Pihl said, "It's really special to have such longevity in the community. There's just a ton of people from all over the country that come together, and it's a really unique festival."

Festival-goers got to see and hear from 33 artists like Cris Jacobs and Cassandra Lewis. There were also 18 vendors for the event, offering a chance to purchase hats, pottery, jewelry and furniture.

Just a Little Charm's Jen Pesko said, "It's always new people coming to the festival each year, as well as return customers. So they know me pretty well. My material is all salvaged, - copper flashing from the old Bend Bulletin building torn down on Wall Street downtown."

Brent Taylor of Cabin Creek Log Furniture & Designs said, "My father was a woodshop teacher. I've been working with lots, since a kid. They built custom homes for years, and liked it and learned a lot. But I wanted to do something on my own, so I started this about 30 years ago."

Choosing a favorite artist can be quite challenging.

Quinlan said, "I think Paul McDonald is really talented, and Melissa Carper from Texas, and The Fantastic Cats was a really fun, upbeat band."

You can purchase next year's Sisters Folk Festival tickets in December. The first 500 tickets sold are discounted.
