Les Schwab Amphitheater could see major concert cancellations
Two artists have already cancelled upcoming shows
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- There's no end in sight as to when COVID-19 restrictions could be lifted, which is bad news for the Les Schwab Amphitheater.
The riverside concert venue already has had two performers cancel shows: Chris Young, scheduled to perform on May 8, and Michael Franti, who was slated to perform July 17. Brandi Carlille has also postponed her May 23 show.
It's up to the artists and their agents to decide whether a show will be canceled or postponed, officials said.
At the moment, all other scheduled concerts at the Bend venue are set to go on as planned. If more shows continue to be canceled, Carrie Ramoz with the Old Mill District says the economic impacts could be far-reaching.
"We won't know the final impacts until we are on the other side of this," Ramoz said Wednesday. "The impacts will be felt far past the amphitheater.
"In addition to the amphitheater not selling tickets and having the venue not open, that will impact the hotels, that will impact the restaurants that aren't selling those dinners or after event celebration drinks, it will (also) impact gas stations. Everything in Bend will feel the impact of a lack of shows this summer."
Ramoz said the amphitheater will continue to obey guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control.
