Congresswoman Janelle Bynum sworn in during Bend ceremony
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Congresswoman Janelle Bynum hosted a district swearing-in ceremony at the OSU-Cascades campus. Many dignitaries attended, including newly elected Senator Anthony Broadman, Representative Jason Kropf, Bend Mayor Melanie Kebler, and the entire Bend City Council.
Before the ceremony, Representative Bynum met with Chris Porter and Dan Cochrane of Mt. Bachelor Community Incorporated. The group shared their interest in purchasing the resort and returning Mt. Bachelor to local ownership.
Later, Congresswoman Bynum was sworn in by the Honorable Judge Raymond Crutchley.
Bynum also shared some of her goals for Central Oregon.
"This is really, to me, about costs and jobs," said Representative Bynum. "Bringing down the cost of housing, bringing down the costs of insurance, bringing down the cost of education, bringing down the cost of health care—these are all challenges Oregonians and Americans are experiencing across the country. So that is a priority."
Representative Bynum also said she realizes that the grit required to win her election as Oregon's representative is the same grit needed to break through the gridlock in Washington, D.C.
She added that she’s looking forward to putting proposals on the table and bringing back wins for Oregonians.
