Bend church hosts annual God’s Closet clothing drive for kids

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Cascade Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bend, Ore., is holding its annual free children's clothing drive, “God's Closet,” this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event aims to assist families in need by supplying clothing to children and plans to serve double the number of families assisted last year.

The “God's Closet” program is the church's bi-annual free children's clothing event for families. Since its inception five years ago, the program has helped 350 families and provided clothing to over one thousand children. The clothing available caters to children from ages newborn to 12.

Julie Ward, a volunteer at Cascade Seventh-day Adventist Church, highlighted the ease of participation for those seeking assistance. Ward emphasized that the event operates without qualification requirements, serving every individual who attends. “So it's very simple for people to just show up and we'll take care of them. There is no qualification. We serve every individual that comes,” Ward said. “This is a way we can serve the community in a way that really does seem to make a big difference. And we're so happy about it.”

The goal of the event is to make the free shopping experience simple and enjoyable. Individuals can still donate clothing items by dropping them in the basket located in the church parking lot. The event is hosted at the church located on 60670 Brookswood Blvd in Bend.
