THE DESCHUTES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, NTSB, AND FAA INVESTIGATING PLANE CRASH WEST OF BEND

Bend, Ore. (KTVZ) -- On Tuesday, August 4, at 6:46 p.m., the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a plane crash west of Bend.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash in coordination with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, died upon high‑speed impact with the ground. No other injuries or deaths occurred, and the crash did not result in a fire.
