Bend flags fly to mark Independence Day; ceremony honors WWII veteran Leon Devereaux

Boy Scout Troop 25 helped install 100 flags at the Bend Heroes Memorial and adjacent Veterans Memorial Bridge to mark Independence Day. Afterward, a ceremony was held to honor the late veteran Leon Deveraux, a former Bend mayor and WWII fighter pilot who helped install the flags for many years and died in January at the age of 97.
