Dry and chilly pattern through the holiday weekend

Last week, an area of low pressure generated a series of weather impulses that provided the area with some rain, snow and slick roads.  Today the large, lumbering low is clearing the area and opening the door for a quite and dry pattern for the next several days.  The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is probably the busiest travel day of the year so the weather forecast is important for folks taking to the roads or to the air.  It looks good.

Tomorrow will be a dry and crisp day with highs in the low 40s and light winds. Some patchy fog is a possibility in the morning, but generally a nice day to drive to see your friends and family. There should be no issues over the passes and Central Oregon will be mostly sunny.

Thanksgiving will be more of the same as the region will see a dry flow of air arriving from the northwest.  There is very little moisture embedded in this flow of air, so cold nights and chilly days will be on the table for the rest of the weekend. Travel issues will not be impacted much by the weather this long holiday weekend.

Not much change in the overall pattern through the weekend as most of the wet weather in the west will stay south.

If you are traveling to New England region, expect to see some stormy conditions Thanksgiving. A developing Nor’easter is expected to produce several inches of snow in that area, along with gusty winds. This year, it looks like the worst weather will be in the east.
