SCHOOL CLOSURE INFO & Slippery roads early with more winter weather today

UPDATE: Sisters School District is closed due to inclement weather. Jefferson and Culver School Districts are on a 2hr Delay.

A fine Thursday to you, Central Oregon.  This morning brings a chance of rain and snow.  Conditions may transition to the rainy side throughout the day as temperatures are forecast to be a few degrees warmer than yesterday before returning to a chance for mixed precipitation late this afternoon.

Roads are likely quite slippery with packed snow and ice this morning, due to our recent snowfall.  Additionally, travel in the mountain passes will be difficult.

Latest satellite imagery shows an area of low pressure centered right around the Oregon/Washington border near Astoria, and the bulk of the moisture expected with this ongoing system is expected to occur through the early morning hours today.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in Central Oregon until 4am Friday due to expected additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches creating slippery road conditions.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 4am Friday along the east slopes of the Cascades including La Pine and Sunriver due to 10-15 inches of possible snow along the crests and in passes with 2-4 inches possible along the lower east slopes.

Wind will be out of the southwest; 10 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph possible in some areas.

Highs will be in the 30s and 40s and overnight lows in the 20s.
