Wintry mix and mountain snow this morning clearing by later today

Good Tuesday, Central Oregon.  This morning brings a wintry mix to the area. Snow mainly in the Cascades and rain mainly in the lower elevations.  Sunriver, La Pine, Lava Butte and Sisters may experience some Snow and resulting travel issues this morning but areas to the north and east will be primarily above the freezing threshold resulting in mainly rain. The type of precipitation will be dictated by temperature.  

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 11 PM along the east slopes of the Cascades including Sunriver and La Pine.  6-12” of snow is possible above 4000 ft. with the heaviest snow above 4500 ft.  Winds could gust as high as 40mph on exposed ridges.

After things clear up later today, the area can expect dry conditions as a warming trend takes hold of the forecast which should land us in thew 50s and 60s by this weekend.

Winds will likely be out of the west in the 10-20mph range today with gusts as high as 25 mph possible in some areas.  Highs will be similar to yesterday in the 40s and overnight lows will be in the 20s and 30s.
