Clearing out and warming up moving forward through the weekend

This looks to be the end to the chilly pattern that has persisted in Central Oregon since the last week of April.  Today we will be on the chilly side, but tomorrow will see the region back into the 60s.  This will be the beginning of a warming trend that will end up seeing the mercury in the thermometer hit the low 80s by Friday.

The low pressure trough that has been responsible for the colder than normal temps recently will be moving east.  This migration east opens the door for a ridge of high pressure to arrive from the west. The ridge will provide the area with a gradual warm up into the 70s Thursday.

Friday will be sunny and dry with the ridge well established over the western portion of the continent.  Highs on Friday are likely to be in the low 80s, with more of the same for the weekend.

Enjoy the cooler pattern while you can, as this recent period of chilly air has extended the snow riding season for a spell.  The warmer conditions are going to take hold, and all of the long range models are indicating an extended run of above normal temperatures for a while.
