Summer-like feel today through the weekend

Happy Friday everyone!

It may feel more like summer than spring today.

A ridge of high pressure continues to dominate over the region. We can expect our drier and warmer conditions to persist through the weekend.

Our afternoon highs are rising mainly into the low 80s across the region. It's always a good idea to wear sunscreen and plenty of fluids if you plan to spend a lot of time outdoors.

Some parts of the region may still be impacted by smoke from prescribed burns. The warmth from the sun will help in rise well into the sky and disperse over a wider area. This is good because the higher the smoke, the less it will impact us here in the region.

Air quality can change throughout the day so keep that in mind, especially if you have respiratory issues.

It's going to be a nice night as temperatures drop into the 40s under clear skies.

NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch late today or early on May 11th. An eruption of solar material is expected to hit Earth which can result in this type of event. Because of this, you may be able to see the Northern Lights here in Oregon and other parts of the US.

Enjoy the rest of your day.
