Dry and warm pattern to set up for the end of June and start of July

The weather pattern will be quiet over the next several days as the winds are expected to be breezy but not windy.  The flow of air will be generally from the northwest on Saturday, which will push the smoke from the Darlene 3 fire to the southeast into Lake County.  There will be some cloud cover on Saturday afternoon but the temperatures are still going to hit the low 80s.

The conditions at the Darlene 3 Fire will be dry and breezy Saturday with sustained winds near 10 – 15 mph in the afternoon. Air quality Friday morning was in the unhealthy range as the winds relaxed overnight and the smoke settled down at the surface.  The afternoon warmth lifts the smoke but the light winds are not doing a good job of transporting the smoke from the region.

Sunday will be partly cloudy and warm as the mercury in the thermometer rises into the 80s again. Our last day of June will be quiet and dry.  There is going to be little change to the forecast as we kick into the new month.  July will start out day and warm, with temps in the 80s.

The rest of the short work week will trend warmer as the sunshine will be abundant and the winds relatively light.  Highs on Wednesday reach the upper 80s then the low 90s on Independence Day.

Hot and dry conditions continue into the first weekend of July as highs are forecast to be in the mid-90s.  This may change, but for now it looks like the heat will be back next weekend.  Enjoy the low 80s this weekend and remember, we are in fire season, so take the appropriate action to keep from starting a wildfire.
