Clear and chilly night ahead, hot pattern into the weekend

KTVZ

Those who are looking forward to the fall and the cooler, crisp nights and mild afternoons, today and Wednesday are just what you wanted.  Those who enjoy the heat of summer, Thursday through Saturday are just what you are looking for.  In other words, there is a little bit of fall this week and a little bit of summer.

Tonight, the mercury in the thermometer will dip below freezing in La Pine and possibly Sisters and Sunriver. Clear skies and light winds will allow any heat that was gained during the day will “radiate” away into the night sky. Wednesday will be the last day of the cooler than normal pattern as highs will be in the middle to upper 70s.

Thursday begins a three-day run of well above normal temperatures as highs reach the middle to upper 80s.  Plenty of sunshine will aid in the warming process as well as a ridge of high pressure that will drift over Central Oregon.

Friday and Saturday will be in the 90s as the ridge stays over the region. There will be light winds and mostly sunny skies both days. Late in the day Saturday we should start to see some cloud cover, but no rain is expected.

There will be an increase in cloud cover Sunday, with mostly sunny skies likely by sundown.

Labor Day is still several days off, but the long-range forecast has the region seeing a slight chance for a few showers. This will be fine-tuned as we get closer to the long holiday weekend.
