Plenty of sunshine to close out Summer 2024

The weather pattern will be on the quiet side for the next several days with mostly sunny days and clear and crisp nights.  The normal high temperature for this time of year is around 75 in Central Oregon and we will likely be around that number through the weekend.

We close out the summer season with slightly cooler temperatures than normal, but plenty of sunshine.  High pressure will take over the western portion of the country, keeping the area dry and near normal as far as temperatures go.

If you plan on heading out this weekend, enjoy the cool pattern. Might be a good idea to keep the sweater handy as sometimes, in the shade, it gets a bit chilly.

Smoke from the Little Lava Fire west of Sunriver has been throwing up smoke today and the air quality in Sunriver was in the "unhealthy" range most of the day. There are still several fires contributing smoke to the lower levels of the atmosphere, and early in the morning there will be some poor air quality. Most of the wildfires have been in “mop up” mode for a few days now, but they are still smoldering. Expect to see this for another week or so as the fires may be “contained” but are not “extinguished” just yet.

Sunday at 5:44 am the direct rays of the Sun will be over the equator, the Autumnal Equinox. There will be equal parts daylight and darkness on that day and we begin our journey toward winter as the days will be shorter than the nights until next Spring.
