Wintry weather this weekend, snow possible

The temperatures were on the cold side this morning as the clear skies overnight allowed the mercury in the thermometer to dip into the teens and 20s. This cold pattern will linger today as highs should only reach the upper 30s to low 40s.

Winter Weather is on the way and there may be as much as 3 or 4 inches of snow by the time Monday morning rolls around. There will be a couple waves of rain and/or wintry mix flow over Central Oregon with areas over 4000 feet seeing more snow than rain.

Today we could get some fat, wet flakes fly south of Lava Butte and the slushy snow may accumulate on grassy areas. Sisters is also in line for some snow and rain. Bend has a chance to see more of a cold rain than a wintry mix.

Overnight we have a bit of a warm up so there may be more rain than snow to deal with overnight. Sunday will be a mild day to start, with highs reaching the 50s early in the afternoon. But a cold front will slide through in the early afternoon and give us a blast of much colder air once again. A robust line of rain and snow will accompany the front, then snow is possible after the front passes.

The amount of snow is not expected to be much more than a couple inches into Sunday night and Monday morning in Bend and Redmond, but we could see 3+ inches in Sunriver, La Pine and Sisters.

This is subject to change and may be even more robust than forecast today. Be prepared for some wintry weather this weekend and if you don't have to travel, stay inside and enjoy some hot cocoa.

It isn't Thanksgiving yet, and we are already dealing with some persistent wintry weather.
