Scattered showers and isolated storms today, rain lingers Wednesday

KTVZ

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Rainy conditions are expected today as the steady stream of moisture arrives from the south. The rainfall is due to a complex weather pattern that centers around an area of low pressure off the California coast. This feature will provide the rainy day today, as well as some isolated thunderstorms, mainly east.

The low will eventually move inland and split up, with most of the moisture rotating around a secondary low that will move NE across Oregon Wednesday. This will bring in cooler air and possibly some high elevation snow.  Highs Wednesday will only top out in the low 50s.

Winds pick up as well Wednesday with gusty west and northwest winds taking over.  The winds will be more robust north and east of the Tri-Counties, but gusts near 20 – 25 are possible in the afternoon.

The rain should begin to taper off late in the day as the fragmented low exits to the east. The winds will also relax a bit as we move toward the nighttime hours.

Thursday will be the start of a few days with mostly sunny skies and slightly warmer conditions. Expect to see highs in the upper 50s and low 60s into the weekend. Some spotty showers are possible Sunday and Monday. The rain will be light and disorganized as the sky conditions should remain mostly cloudy.

Tuesday will be much drier and quiet with highs in the middle 60s.

Please, Stay safe.
