Air quality issues, hot temperatures ahead

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Be prepared for poor air quality this morning as northeast winds push more smoke into the region. Wildfire smoke will remain a concern through at least midweek.

Tuesday will be warm and breezy, with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Temperatures will fall into the 40s and 50s overnight.

A hot weather pattern arrives Wednesday, with highs in the mid 90s. Temperatures climb near or above 100 degrees Thursday before returning to the upper 90s Friday.

Public places with air conditioning like libraries, movie theaters and community centers are good options for escaping the heat. Swimming outdoors can also provide relief, but remember that poor air quality may make it unsafe to spend extended periods outside.

There will be little relief this weekend, although highs will cool slightly into the upper 80s. Similar temperatures are expected Monday.

No rain is expected for the next several days. The ongoing drought and hot weather will create additional challenges for firefighting efforts. Despite unfavorable conditions, crews continue to make great progress on nearby wildfires.
