Above normal highs today, cooler temperatures ahead

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -A ridge of high pressure will bring another day of above-normal temperatures before shifting east.

Today will be slightly less hot, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s under partly to mostly sunny skies. Fire danger remains high due to the hot, dry and breezy conditions.

Temperatures will gradually cool as a low pressure system moves inland. Clouds will increase late Wednesday into Thursday before gradually clearing.

Highs will fall into the mid 80s Thursday and Friday, followed by low 80s Saturday and mid 80s Sunday. Skies will remain mostly sunny through the weekend.

Dry weather continues into early next week, with highs in the low 80s Monday and Tuesday. Drought conditions are becoming increasingly serious, with extreme drought now covering about 90% of Central Oregon’s tri-county area.

Despite the ongoing drought, there is some encouraging news on the fire front. The large wildfires are staring to become more mop up and patrolling than fighting. Thanks to the firefighters for their hard work.
