Biden announces 3 decommissioned Philadelphia fire companies are reopening with federal funds

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Three decommissioned fire companies in Philadelphia have been reopened with the help of federal funding. That includes a ladder truck that would have been the closest responder to a deadly rowhouse blaze last year, which started when a Christmas tree caught fire. President Joe Biden made the announcement on Monday while visiting the city. The president spoke for about eight minutes at the firehouse before he headed to a fundraiser for his reelection campaign. He’s trying to show the nation as 2024 looms how his policies are benefitting regular Americans with “kitchen table” problems.
