Frigid night on the High Desert with a cool weekend to follow

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Howdy all! Happy Friday! We're counting down the days to Halloween, now just eight days away, and it looks like some chilly fall weather is in store for our neck of the woods. But first, the coldest night of the week is upon us, with lows dropping into the mid-20s for many communities. Some of our colder spots, including La Pine, could even dip into the teens, so bundle up and protect any sensitive plants or exposed outdoor plumbing.

Fortunately, we'll recover nicely Saturday, with afternoon highs climbing back into the low 60s, right around average for this time of year. Sunday's weather will be more of the same temperature-wise, but we will add in a little boost of moisture on Sunday night. Thus, I'm keeping an eye on a few low rain chances from Sunday night through Wednesday. At this point, significant rainfall isn't expected, and much of the moisture may get caught up in the Cascades before reaching our side of the mountains. If anything does make it over to the High Desert, it will likely be limited, but we'll continue monitoring the forecast as things develop.

By Monday and the rest of the work week, highs are expected to stay in the low 50s, bringing that classic fall chill back to the High Desert. You'll definitely want those extra layers handy each day this week.

And speaking of chilly weather, Halloween is trending cooler as well. It's going to be a good idea to plan for warmer costumes or have an extra layer ready for the kiddos. We'll keep tracking the temperatures and any rain chances as we get closer. Have a great weekend, folks, and stay warm out there!
