Businesses around Bend are preparing for Super Bowl Sunday

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Jerseys are being chosen, snacks were debated, and the big decision of where to watch the game is unfolding.

I visited three businesses here in Bend on Wednesday to find out how the big game affects their business.

Hoody’s Collectibles on South Highway 97 says as the Super Bowl inches closer, they have seen a spike in interest in NFL training cards.

Alex Langston said: “Yes, it slightly starts to increase, especially with the certain players that are going to be playing in that game. People coming in looking for their cards. Some of the more popular players who might be in it, like Brock Purdy or Lamar Jackson.

"For any player, they have cards that go for $0.25 all the way up to maybe thousands. So, even a guy like Brock Purdy, who's fairly young, has cards that have sold for over $50,000, and especially Lamar Jackson, who's been in the league four or five years now, which makes six.”

Over at Savory Spice in the Old Mill District, well-seasoned wings should be the center piece of any Super Bowl spread.

Yralei Asher of Savory Spice said: “So we've got our Nashville Hot Fried Chicken spices that are spicy and earthy and well-herbed, and they work really well on any type of fried chicken that you could think of doing. We've also got our buffalo wing dry sauce. We've also got a hot sauce to spice things up a little bit. We've got our Aleppo Pepper Hot Sauce, and any of these should help really spice up your wings for your game day.”

And finally, I stopped in at Big E’s Sports Bar and Grill on SE Cleveland Avenue. Big E said they are prepping for game day by offering homemade chili and plenty of space to enjoy the big game.

Owner Eric Anderson said: “We are definitely going to do some drink specials and we will have a special menu for that day. And, actually that entire week we're going to, I think, feature chili. We've got a big banquet room in the back we call the hall of fame room, and we'll have a rather large party back there, mostly raider fans. And it should be. And then I've got plenty of space in here and it should be a good time.”

Super Bowl LVIII is going down Sunday, February 11th, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with the teams to be determined this weekend.
