Slight chance of rain, cloudy skies with mild temperatures and active winds

A fine Wednesday to you, Central Oregon.  Today brings a chance for rain (most likely throughout the morning) as well as cloudy skies and more mild temperatures.  Wind this afternoon will also be something to note as they will be significantly more active than the last few days.

The main weather feature for the short term is the low pressure system that will approach the coastline and stall just offshore bringing breezy conditions and widespread precipitation before relaxing by the end of the week when the system weakens.

With temperatures currently on the warmer side, snow levels remain around 6-8k feet, but will steadily descend through the week and reach 3-5k by Friday as temperatures reduce with the cold front.  We see a chance for some very light snowfall in the higher elevation peaks overnight Thursday into Friday.

In counties just south of our viewing areas including portions of Klamath, Lake and Modoc counties, there’s a Wind Advisory until 10pm due to south winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected and a High Wind warning also lasting through tonight at 10pm due to expected south winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

Local winds will be quite active in the 15-30 mph range and gusts of 50-50 mph will even be possible in the higher elevations of the Cascades.

Highs will be in the upper 40s and low 50s and overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s.
