Mountain snow continues, drying out for the weekend

There will be a few flurries today at the lower elevated areas over the High Desert, but not much accumulation. The ground is not frozen so the chance for snow to accumulate is inhibited as the snow will melt until the ground is cold enough to allow the snow to build up.  Some snow may accumulate on grassy areas, but more than likely, not the roads.  Different story through the mountain passes as Century Drive is snow packed and other passes are slick with wet conditions.  Icy roads through the passes are likely overnight as the temps drop into the 20s.

Once the low off the coast migrates to the south, which it is expected to do on Friday, the region will be in for a much drier and milder pattern. There will still be a few flakes tonight in the mountains and early in the morning Friday, but we should be seeing an end to the cloud cover and chilly conditions for the holiday weekend.

This weekend will be dry and mild as the mercury in the thermometer will reach the middle 50s Saturday and Sunday. Easter Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs near 55° with a light breeze.  Sunrise is at 6:47 Sunday morning (Bend), and the temperature will be near freezing. If you are planning to attend any outdoor services for Easter, prepare for a cold morning, but dry.

Next week we will be dry and mild as warmer than normal weather takes over.  Highs may be back in the 70s as early as Tuesday.  Don’t get too used to that, the 50s are in the forecast for Thursday along with some mountain snow.
