Rotary Club of Redmond launches ‘Home Team,’ offering free basic home maintenance for seniors
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – The Rotary Club of Redmond proudly announces the launch of the Rotary Home Team, a new initiative designed to provide free basic home maintenance services to seniors in the Redmond community.
Recognizing the challenges many seniors face in managing household repairs, the Rotary Home Team aims to fill a crucial gap, offering assistance with common maintenance issues.
Addressing a Critical Need
For numerous seniors, performing routine household repairs has become increasingly difficult. Family members may not always be available to help, and the cost of hiring professional services can be prohibitive. The Rotary Home Team steps in to assist with tasks such as:
- Replacing hard-to-reach lightbulbs
- Changing smoke alarm batteries
- Fixing leaky faucets or drains
- Adjusting handles or cabinet drawer pulls
- Resetting tripped circuit breakers
How It Works
Seniors can contact the Redmond Senior Center to schedule a Rotary Home Team visit, typically held on the last Saturday of every other month. During these scheduled workdays, qualified volunteer Rotarians visit seniors' homes to perform necessary repairs. Volunteers are easily identifiable and come prepared with all required tools. Before commencing work, they review the needed repairs with the homeowner and have them sign a simple liability waiver.

Upon completion of repairs, seniors can expect improved safety and comfort in their homes, with functioning lights, smoothly operating doors, and leak-free faucets.
